Banjul The Gambia, February 13, 2025 - The newly elected Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Executive Board, led by 2nd Vice President Mr. Bakary K. Jammeh, paid a courtesy visit to the Turkish Embassy in Brufut on Thursday.

The visit was part of GNOC’s efforts to strengthen partnerships in sports development and foster greater collaboration between The Gambia and Turkey. The delegation was warmly received by Ambassador F. Türker OBA, who highlighted the strong cooperation between the two nations in areas such as military, education, economy, and other key sectors of development.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Bakary K. Jammeh emphasized the courtesy call's significance, noting the two nations' shared values and the role of sports diplomacy in fostering deeper ties. He stressed that enhancing collaboration in sports would create greater opportunities for Gambian athletes, officials, and coaches while promoting the spirit of sports cohesion.

The discussions centered around several critical areas, many of which align with Team Bai’s manifesto:

• Sports Exchange Programs – Exploring opportunities for Gambian athletes and coaches to receive training in Turkey.

• Technical Support & Capacity Building – Seeking assistance in sports management, coaching development, and infrastructure enhancement.

• Provision of Sports Equipment – Discussing ways Turkey can support Gambian sports federations with essential equipment.

• Bilateral Collaboration in International Events – Exploring joint efforts in hosting or participating in international sporting competitions.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision to enhance sporting opportunities and strengthen cooperation between the two nations. Both GNOC and the Turkish Embassy expressed their commitment to turning discussions into concrete actions, ensuring that Gambian sports continue to thrive through strategic international partnerships.

This visit marks another milestone in GNOC’s mission to elevate Gambian sports onto the global stage, fostering a legacy of excellence for athletes, coaches, and sports administrators.
