GNOC see off Gina Bass and co to Dakar camp.
Banjul, The Gambia, November 5, 2020 - Five sprinters from Gambia were on Thursday giving a sent off brief by the Gambia National Olympic Committee ahead of the rescheduled 2020 Olympic Games, that will he held in Tokyo in 2021.
The five athletes in Gina Bass, Adama Jammeh, Segan Jobe, Alieu Joof and Ebrima Camara will be at the IAAF high performance center in Dakar until August 2021.
As of November 2020 Gambia have only one athletes that book Olympic ticket. Gina Bass who won the African Games 200m and silver in 100m. The rest have to run an IAAF standard time to book a berth.
The Secretary General and Executive Director of GNOC Abdoulie Jallow and Muhamed Janneh briefed media on the importance of sending the sprinters back to the center amidst the pandemic.
So far, athletics, Judo and beach volleyball are the sports Gambia is banking to fill a team at the games in 2021 with beach volleyball in the final rounds of the qualifications and Judoka Faye Njie gannering points in his fights.
Athletes reps Adama Jammeh assured that the athletes will get Olympic qualifications with standard timing rather a wild card.
