Banjul The, March 27, 2026 - The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Chef de Mission for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2026, Bakary K Jammeh, has successfully concluded the Chef de Mission (CDM) meeting held in Glasgow this week.

The high-level meeting brought together Chef de Missions from across the Commonwealth to review key operational, logistical, and technical preparations ahead of the Games scheduled for July 2026. The meeting provided critical insights into athlete services, accommodation, transport systems, competition venues, and overall Games planning.

Representing Team Gambia, 2nd Vice President Jammeh and Executive Director Muhammed K Janneh actively participated in discussions aimed at ensuring a smooth and effective participation of Gambian athletes at the Games. The meeting also offered an opportunity for delegations to engage directly with organizers and stakeholders, strengthening coordination and readiness.

On the sidelines of the CDM meeting, the delegation, held fruitful discussions with the Gambia High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, focusing on strengthening collaboration and support for Team Gambia during the upcoming Games.

Key areas of discussion included GHC assistance, mobilisation, logistics, athlete welfare, and coordination between the High Commission and GNOC to ensure a smooth and successful participation of Gambian athletes in Glasgow.

The High Commissioner Her Excellency Fatoumatta Bensouda reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to providing the necessary support to Team Gambia, emphasizing the importance of national representation and unity on the international stage.

GNOC remains committed to delivering a well-prepared Team Gambia, as preparations intensify to ensure athletes are supported to compete at their highest level on the international stage.
