Bissau, Guinea, February 7, 2024 – The Men and Women national indoor volleyball teams of The Gambia both qualify to the 2023 African Games after gaining qualifications in the concluded Zone II qualifiers held in Guinea Bissau.

In the four nations tournament, The Gambia men team beat, host Guinea Bissau, Guinea and went onto to beat nemesis Senegal to earned top spot in the zone. Whiles the women team beat host and lost to Senegal, finishing second in the tournament, thus making it through to the biggest multisport event in Africa for the first time.

In 2015, at the AAG in Brazzaville, The Gambia men were qualified but missed the event citing financial constraints. 16 countries will take part in the volleyball events that will start from March 12 to March 23 in Accra.
