Freetown, Sierra Leone, January 30th, 2024 - Gambia’s male and female beach volleyball teams have successfully qualified for the All-Africa Games following their impressive performance in the recently concluded Zone 2 Beach Volleyball Championship hosted by the Volleyball Federation of Sierra Leone at the Africell Beach Sports Arena in Freetown

In the female category, the Gambia secured third. However, the male team claimed the top spot after beating the host in a closely contested match, with a final score of two games to one.

These will be Gambia’s fourth African Games appearance after debuting in 2011 in Maputo. Gambia men won the 2019 beach volleyball gold in Rabat Games, securing the country’s first gold medal for team sports in the African Games history.

Now the team opt to defend the coveted title when the games open in Ghana in March.
