Banjul The Gambia, May 22, 2026 - The Gambia National Olympic Committee has officially concluded its five-day Sports Administrator Course for sports journalists, aimed at strengthening the capacity and understanding of sports administration within the media fraternity.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, GNOC President Bai Dodou Jallow urged journalists to continue supporting the development of Gambian sports through professional, balanced, and constructive reporting. He emphasized the important role the media plays in promoting athletes, federations, and national sporting activities while encouraging stronger collaboration between NOC and journalists.
The Course Director Ousman Abou Wadda also expressed appreciation to all participants for their commitment, discipline, and active participation throughout the training. He noted that the knowledge gained during the course would contribute greatly to improving sports journalism and administration in the country.
Meanwhile, the President of the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia (SJAG) Omar Jarju thanked the GNOC for organizing such an important initiative for sports journalists. He described the training as timely and beneficial, while encouraging participants to apply the skills and lessons learned in their daily work.
The five-day course brought together sports journalists from different media institutions across the country and focused on key areas of sports administration, leadership, governance, and Olympic values.
