Dakar Senegal, March 29, 2026 - Alima Jaw Jobe has made history by claiming gold in the African Judo Youth Open currently ongoing in Dakar.
The rising star secured her first continental title in the -57kg category, marking a major milestone in her young career. Alima previously represented The Gambia at the inaugural ANOCA African School Games and went on to reach the semifinals at the ANOCA Youth Games in Angola—showing consistent growth on the continental stage.
There was more success for Team Gambia as compatriot Amie Kolleh Jabang earned bronze in the -44kg category, while Matarr Cham finished 5th after a strong run that saw him narrowly miss out in the bronze medal contest.
A proud moment for Gambian judo and youth sport!
