Gambia's top Judo athlete Faye Njie clinched bronze medal in the ongoing Senior African Judo Championship in Cairo, Egypt on Friday April 26.

Fighting in the -73kg, Njie finished third in the competition following a Wazari over Morocco's Mohamed Jafty in the first round, and another victory over an Angolan opponent in the quarter final.

However, he lost the fight at the semi-final against a Tunisian opponent before winning a bronze medal with an ippon in the golden score against a Djiboutian opponent.

" ." said Faye, who is on the cusp of qualifying for his third Olympics.

The Senior African Judo Championship is part of a series of qualifiers for Summer Olympics Paris  2024.
